What is My Car Maintenance Schedule?

After you purchase a new or used car, you will need to keep up with routine automotive service to ensure it runs smoothly for many years to come. Every Three Months or 3,000 Miles

The following tasks should be performed every three months or 3,000 miles:

  • Belts, exhaust, and hoses
  • All lights inside and out
  • Fuel filter
  • Tire pressure, tread, and wear and tear
  • Automatic transmission, power steering, wiper fluid levels
  • Engine oil and air filter

Every Six Months or 6,000 Miles

Along with the preventative maintenance tasks listed above, perform these checks every six months or 6,000 miles:

  • Windshield wipers
  • Polish your vehicle
  • Car battery and cables
  • Chassis lubrication

Every 12 Months or 12,000 Miles

The tasks below should be performed yearly in addition to everything previously mentioned:

  • Transmission fluid levels
  • Steering and suspension
  • Brake system
  • Coolant levels

Monthly Tasks

There are a few other simple checks that should be done on a monthly basis:

  • Make sure all the interior and exterior lights work
  • Inspect the tire pressure and tread
  • Ensure that the windshield wiper fluid is filled
  • See if the check engine light is illuminated
  • Keep the interior and exterior clean
